i'm trying to figure a simpler way to change my water - currently i fill a bucket up in my kitchen put in chlorine stuff to take it out n then march to my bedroom n fill the tank it takes about 7 trips n is a pain in the ace!!! coul i hook up some type of hose to my sink n fill the bucket in my room ? if so what type of hose will i need that is safe n hasn't got chemicals it - i was thinking potable - anyone try this?
thanks

I'm sure you've heard of it, there is the Python no spill gravel vac that hooks up to your sink. I just ordered one from Big Al's, and can't wait to get it. No more buckets for me.

chefkeith said it. There are other types of hoses you can use and even the plastic garden hose fittings will work (as long as you have the right diameter hose). If the hose/tubing is safe for potable water, it's safe for your fish.

clear vinyl

I use a clear vinly tubing that I got at the hardware store, by the foot. I got 1/2 inch, and used garden hose repair fittings to add male and female threads and a shutoff at the end, plus a sink adapter that has a 90 degree bend (from RV section at Walmart).

I use a pair of suction cups to hold it inside the tank when draining and filling. Since it is clear, I can see if it gets moldy and then I bleach it. Also easier to see that it is drained before storage. Total cost, about $20 for 50'.

I was using a waterbed drain and fill attachment, but it split, and the second one split, so now I just use the hose out the window to drain and the sink attachment to fill. It is a bit faster than the waterbed thing, due to the restrictions in that.
