also, im planning on housing him in a 10 gallon divided tank. do you suggest quarantining him further (hes been quarantined for about 4 days already) or should i just plop him on his side of the tank? the other side currently houses a plakat female.
potential betta gill problem, or maybe im just paranoid..

I would quarantine for at least two weeks total just to make sure he does not have anything else that may show up later.

Wow, he's gorgeous! I didn't even know bettas came in orange!
One of my bettas has slightly 'out-set' gills and breathes fast too, other than that seems ok.
(I also have at least one that her gill flaps are so short she can't really 'flare' properly lol.)

wow i thought this thread was dead! XD sorry for the extremely late reply, but hes doing fantastic. got in a little scuffle with his neighbor betta due to him jumping over, but hes recovering nicely! hes gotten much bigger and brighter now, and has really warmed up to me. lol he likes to beg for food scavenge the floor like a sniffing dog.
