Potential Leak In Tank-Advice Sought

This could be from the bucket changing, but I don't think so. I may have an ever-so-slight leak in my tank. There was a hint of water in a pool under one end of the tank. I have dried this water as thoroughly as possible using paper towels and will check it again in about an hour. This is an old tank (about 9 years old) and has survived 4 moves by professional movers, so if it is leaking I wouldn't be surprised.

Has anyone had a leaky tank? If so, how much did it leak? How feasible is it to fix a leak? Is that a fairly safe indicator that the sealant is failing throughout the tank? I seems to me I remember seeing somewhere that it was easier to just buy a new one altogether.

Thanks in advance...

I would say that after 9 years and four moves the whole tank is probably knackered.
And even if you do have the slightest leak, this ever so small crack will grow under the pressure and weight of the water.

If you leave the tank, or attempt a bob-job do it yourself repair, you may find half if not the entire tank's water on the floor one day, and your fish suffering if not dead.
Personally it is not worth the risk, i would go out straight away and get yourself a new 40 gallon.
Sounds like your 38 gallon has had its moneys worth anyway :)

Problem solved. I went and bought myself a 55 gallon long with a new stand/hood/etc. The new tank is awesome and the fish seem to be adjusting well.

Time to change the signature.

Nice one.
Good luck with it. But remember the new tank will need to cycle first.
