potted plants

It is a wise thing to take plants that come in pots out of them and re-plant the roots into the substrate.
Most plants bought like that are packed in a white cotton-like material that is loaded with nutrients. These extra nutrients can cause major algae issues if left to get into the water column.
Carefully remove the roots from the pot by cutting the pot into sections and gently removing them from the pot. Then, gently remove as many traces of the material that they are packed in, and plant into the substrate.

I like Anubias. Mine is doing GREAT in an Eclipse 6 gallon tank with the standard light (8w). I removed it from the pot. Also try to remove as much of the excess sponge material from the pot but be careful not to damage the roots. It is ok to leave a little if you can't get it all as it degrades over time.
