Potted Plants...

Hi everyone. I have an amazon sword that came in a little plastic pot with slits for roots to grow through. There has been visible growth. I am now wondering if the plant will get too big for the pot. What should I do then?

you can take the pot off of the plant if you wanna.. if they do get to big then repot them in a normal pllastic flowerpot

The pots are for ease of transferring the plant from the grower's facility to the pet store to your tank. If you have no plans to move the plant, take it out of the pot and plant it in the gravel. There'll be rock wool (I don't know why it's called that) packed around the roots. Take off as much of it as you can, but try not to damage the roots too much. When I first got into live plants, I learned that my swords grew at a much faster rate and were visibly healthier when they were planted in the gravel.

i agree. i think its a good idea to take all plants out of the pot and give them room to grow the roots out.

A good way to get it out of the pot is to cut the pot away, that way you don't tear the roots. The pots are usually thin plastic, this is easily done. Trim the roots a little as well, and remove any that are mushy or not crisp and healthy-looking.
