potting plants

I was wondering how I would got about potting plants because I want to put some in my 60 gal african tank...I think is would be the best way to have my tank planted since the fish like to move the sand around quite a bit...

Some people on the discus forums use clay pots to put plants in so they can technically still have a bare bottom tank for the discus. Seems to work out fine for them and if the plants are good size it does offer an alternative to the usual planted tank.

Yeah but what do i put in the pot should i use potting soil, gravel, etc....what would be the best?

I don't because with any plant, you can wind up with root bound, not good for the plant.

Oh really...so how could i keep the plants from being uprooted?

not much, sand and an extensive root system can work quite well.

I once tried with peat (on the bottom) and flourite (on top) in a clay pot. It worked ok for me but eventually I didn't like the look and took them out.
