Power Filter & UGF

I've asked a few people this question, and no one seems to know if/how it will work...

I was thinking of combining an over the tank power filter with a UGF. Using tubing, I want to hook up the intake of the power filter to the UGF. My thought is that it would create an undergravel intake that would act as a vacum. The water and debris would then be pulled into the power filter and the filtered water would then overflow back into the tank.

I'm not sure that I've explained myself correctly or not, but would greatly appreciate any advice anyone has to offer on the subject...

It's not a good idea. It won't pull up all the debris down and up into the filter. Best to have no UGF and just have the intake straight in the water.

It would work, some canisters even come with an adapter to hook your ugf to.

If you do it let the gravel be the biomedia and just mech media in the hob.
