specs of my tank are on my sig. question is: do i need to put in powerhead/s?

FLUVAL FX5 SPECS:
aquarium capacity: 400 gallons (1,500 liters)

mechanical area (foam): 325.5 in (2,100 cm)
biological volume: 1.5 gallons (5.9 l)

Those are the stats for the Fluval canister filter if I'm reading correctly. Powerheads won't hurt, but you may not need them - how is the circulation in the tank? Any dead spots? If the water is moving through the entire tank and keeping detritus suspended so the filter/skimmer can take care of it, you're gold. If there are slow or dead spots, that's where a PH would come in handy :)
 
uhm.. how would i know if i have dead spots?
