I'm setting up a 75 gallon planted tank with rainbows and some other not too messy fish. After the gravel and driftwood, the tank will be holding about 65-70 gallons. Should I get a Marineland Bio-Wheel power filter or should I go for the Fluval canister filter. The canister is supposed to be better but it cost about $60 more. Is is that much better?

i really like the canister filters. if your looking for something with a bio wheel check out the pro magnum system. its a canister with bio wheel. i have also used rena xp3 and really liked it. had nothing but problems with my fluval 404.
depends on how much turn over you want. hot mag has 250 gph and the 350 mag has 350 gph. the more turn over you have in your tank the better.

yeah its a pretty ool setup.. you have the powerfilter running w/ the biowheels and then it runs down to a canister with a polythread diaphram... and you can conver or hook up a gravel vac to it

Yup do this it will save you a ton of money and they are on sale at Foster N Smith right now, I just recieved their catalog.
Mag 350's are wonderfull and easy to use. I wouldn't by anything else.
