Power sand and amazonia expeirence?

+1 for ADA aqua soil, -1 for the powersand.
PS does not add much, other than some NO3, most of the long term nutrients are in the ADA AS.

PS also ends up mixing and looking tacky if you uproot or reuse the sediment later on.

I and most others have the same results as PS with or without.
So I'd just buy another bag of ADA AS. Likely need about 4 x 9 liter bags, more is better than less.

Mr Barr while I have your attention on this thread do you have any recommendations for a CO2 system. I'd like something thats kind of the package deal. A regulator, a needle valve, a bubble counter (optional), and a CO2 diffusion reactor all in one. There is soo much out there is a daunting task for a newbie to sift through all the information.
PS. Love your site!

See ebay etc and also read LeftC's long winded posting on Dual stage regulators on my site listed below.

Lot to sift through, but there's a lot to learn and you can save a 100-200$ and get something that will last and be very high grade for 20-50 years.

I was doing some reading on your site. (barrreport.com). I was interested in the subject of using your lighting as the limiting factor in the plant growth. My tank will be roughly 120 gallons. 48x24x24. I plan on using 3 96watt kits from AHsupply.com with 6700k tubes. This should give me right around 2.4wpg. I know the watts per gallon rule is dated..but it's a number and I like numbers. Most of the plants I've been researching and considering buying (micro sword for a carpet, amazons, jungle val, cabomba, rosette) all seem to be "medium" to "high" light plants. Would the 288 watts of light be considered "limited" in this setup? Would I be better off with 96x2?
I planned on using rexgriggs dry ferts for column dosing. I'd like to let the light be the deciding factor on growth.

Edit: I've also decided to go with rex's regulator and build a diy bubble counter and reactor.

I'd personally suggest 4x 54 W T5 lights with reflectors, they make retro kits.

This would be ideal and target better color combos, they have few color bulb types for 96W.

I like the Gieseman powerchrome middays, maybe add an aquaflora in there for one of the bulbs.

Good coloration and results.

I have a tank the same size.
This will give you in the right range, space the bulbs as wide apart as you can to give the bets spread possible over the tank.

Thank you for all the insight. I'll be sure to post a build thread once I get this project underway.
