A question that has probably been worn out here but I purchased a Hagen Aquaclear 402 for 55 gallon tank. I had my wet/dry return on the back left corner so I figured I'd place the powerhead in the back right. My only problem is that alot of fine white particulate has been floating in the water since I bought it, looks like it's blowing off of the live rock, this fine white stuff must build up in the powerhead because every minute or so it puffs out a cloud of it. Is this a problem that will eventually settle or should I get a weaker powerhead?

What are you dosing. It sounds like ca or alk is coming out of solution.

Some of my power heads require a little extra help in priming them. Normally they start and run fine but try rotating the head upside down and around so that there is no air trapped in the intake. It seems like the slightest bit will cause the impeller to cavitate and produce bubbles. Also you might just need to let it run for a while. If the powerhead is too strong you might be able to reduce the power by putting a valve on it.

Tonight it seems to have cleared up a bit, I'll go ahead and try rotating it like you said. As far as dosing, I haven't added anything to the tank.
