I was wondering if anyone had ever tried using a powerhead inline with a canister filter? The lift from the canister to the spraybar in my tank kind of diminishes the output and I thought a powerhead might increase it. I don't know if this would n some way harm the canister filter though.

Thanks.

heck, if you get a big enough pump, you could like not even turn on the canister.. thatd be kinda cool for someone whos impeller broke and they needed a quick fix, huh?

Im with J double R, might solve your problem, but if nothing else, its a hell of a handy trick to have in your back pocket if something happens to the motor/impellar on your canister.

yes trevor, i believe MOST can, they are not unlike the motors found in an external filter so i dont think overheating would be an issure outside of the tank, but im not 100 percent on that

When excess water is passed through a filter, it tends to diminish the filtering capacity. The additional force causes particulate matter to go through the filtering media rather than being stopped by it. Dump your filter into to the tank (maybe across the surface for good exchange) and then add a powerhead using the spraybar on the outflow - a MaxiJet should lend itself well to that.

Sorry, I guess I am not quite following you with dumping my filter into the tank. I now have an eheim 2213 and was going to put a maxijet 900 inline on the output to increase the water flow through the spray bar. Or if you think the maxijet would work beter on its own.
