Powerhead

Does this mean I still need 10x turnover or no?

Turn over stuff, is for filtration. Not PH's blowing bubbles. : )

I used to like maxi-jets. But I went to run air through the last one I had(which I'd never done with a maxi-jet). And it would barely pull any air, while sitting right at the water surface.
Just kind of wanted to warn against this one. From my experience.

The only other time I used a venturi, was yrs ago. And whisper doesn't make that particular PH any more.
So I don't have any recomendations for one that will work good.

I have a pair of penguin 660's that i've been using the venturi on, and they work pretty good. They pull air up to about 5-6 inches deep. I haven't tried another brand to compare to but I will add they were a little loud when brand new, a lot of chatter. They finally settled down after a few months. I've had them stall on me a couple times too, fwiw, but they are pretty powerful.

Another thing you can do is.
Hook up the air pump to the hose going into the venturi.
Even if it isn't a very strong pump. Between the suction and forced air, you should be able to get bubbles out of a smaller PH at the bottom of a 55.

I dont use a powerhead, instead I use an Eheim internal filter which adds air into the water as it filters.
