I just bought an aquaclear 402 with quickfilter. Can the whole powerhead be submersed? It has a water line mark, but the manual says that it can be submersed without affecting its continous operation.

I really want it lower to provide water movement at the bottom.
help please!

I've got a 402 that I use in my 55 as a CO2 disperser. It's 3/4 of the way to the bottom. You can put that puppy all the way down without fear.

I also had a question about that filter. How do you mount it below the waterline. I'm looking at a picture in a catalog and it just shows a HOB mounting. Does it come with a suction cup mount also? Also do you dispurse your CO2 through the air tube inlet or do you feed your line into/below the filter inlet? Thanks for any answers.

Yes, it comes with a suction cup mounting that the unit slides right into for below surface use. I run my Co2 line right into the bottom through a clear tube. That way you can see how much CO2 you are feeding, there by deterimining when to change bottles(DIY). I also use a disposable air stone to further break up the bubbles being fed. On the other end I bought a mini syphon with a tube that fits snuggly into the out flow tube of the unit, cut the tube to about 8" and fixed the syphon tube back onto it. Then I stuck a sponge(AquaClear Mini Replacement sponge) into the other end of the syphon tube and Wallah!!! The CO2 comes out in an extremely fine mist. Really works well for me for a cheapie system. If you do this be sure and push the tube into the out flow, but not far enough to interfere with the impellor. Any questions......let me know.
