Hi everyone, I'm in the process of setting up my first SW tank (a 29g) and am looking at my powerhead options.

Right now I'm planning on getting two Koralia nano's (which would be 480gph flow total). I'm looking at an Eheim 1060 which should give me something like 450gph with 3 feet of head.

So that's a total of 930gph total turnover which is something like 32x. This seems a bit much to me. Should I scale back my return pump?

I'll have either a 15 or 20H sump.

I would try for about 250 GPH at 3 foot if that will be the head heigth. When I talk about flow in a tank I just count the power heads or closed loop because your sump is the filter and you dont want to high a flow thru that IMO. Will this be a reef or FO of FOWLR. I ran 2 Koralia 1's in my 29 with about 250 GPH on my return and that worked great for me.

It'll be a reef. I'll look for something that can get me about 250gph with head pressure. I want to make sure the water isn't blasting through my sump/fuge. I'll plan to use 2 Koralia 1's in addition to that.

Can anyone recommend a good pump that'll give me about 250gph at 3 feet of head?

After lots of digging I found a thread on another forum where someone said that an Eheim 1250 will give 200gph at about 3 feet, so I think I'm going with that one.
