Powerheads, is there ever too much flow?

I understand. I just moved my powerheads around a little and found that the flow is great now.

I think the MJ1200 with the mod probably puts out 2 or 3x the flow of the Koralia 3.

It does quite a bit. I did the old mod before the commercial ones were available (the Sure-Flow ones are quite nice), and it is impressive how much they can do for a cheap maxi-jet. My choices as far as flow options go, in decreasing preference are modded Tunzes (especially the nanostreams), the Maxi-Jet mods, Seios, then pretty much everything else.

In my 100g Oceanic with dual returns I have a Gen-x pcx-30 with an SCWD, 2 Koralia #2s aimed at the corners and 2 Maxi-jet 900s on the back wall aimed at the front, both with Hydor Flo rotating deflectors. Adding all of the max flow rates I have 2,485 gph which is 15 gph shy of 25x the volume. I don't have corals but my 5 anemones seem happy.
