Just wondering what people aim/direct their powerheads at?
I have a "mountain" in the middle of my 75gallon made of 75lbs LR.Plenty of big caves in it.
I have 2 powerheads mounted on each end creating a whirlwind current. Does that sound like a fine idea?
Seemed to me that by doing that I created the most movement.
I have return flow from filter kinda making surface ripples from one cornmer to the diagonal other, so kinda gracing the top of the tank. Also next to a powerhead I have a return from a chiller.

All up to you. I prefer to create zones of differing current--some places it's blasting, some places it's slower, just so it's all moving. This helps stabilize the temp, while still providing for different currents for corals and fish.

UrbanSage, I have the same type of setup where you can walk around the tank and look at all sides. The rock is built up in the middle. I currently have 3 powerheads plus the outgoing filter in a 90 gallon. I have made a similar setup as you but I also use rotators on the powerheads. See This website for the kind I have. The rotator uses the water force from the powerhead and its only like $13.

I would just keep watching for "dead spots". If you see algae sitting on your sand bed or start seeing rocks getting covered then you either need to add more or set the to hit more direct into the rocks.

Awesome!

RothChyld, thats exactly what I have been looking for, but my LFS told me that the only way to go is a motordriven and that is pretty spendy....But we are not getting along anymore at all after the one sided, moneyhungry advise he has given me so far....moron grrrr :mad2:
But thanks a ton, exactly what I need!!!
