Which would be better to use? carbon? or sediment filter?
I'm planning to install 1 to make sure the tap water is safer for my fish, i'm not worried about chloramine/chlorine, because i use anti chlorine for my tanks and we don't have chloramine here. but i';m worried about other contaminants though, and every time i nake a wc, my tanks goes all cloudy :(

which would be a better filter?

Have you tested your tap water to see what it looks like? Do you drink this water, or do you drink bottled?

It should be easy enough to buy some pipe and fittings and assemble something like:

==[=carbon=]=[=sediment filter=]==

= is pipe, [ and ]'s are screens/connections to hold filter material in place/make it easy to open and replace the filter material.

Instead of going from the sink to a bucket/tank, you go sink, tube (carbon first), and then your bucket or tank.

If you're running a filter on your tank(s) (I couldn't tell by your post), you can probably just filter it through carbon, as the tank's filter should get the sediment out of the water quickly.
