I had one female, my "queen", who was constantly pregnant. She would have eggs, I would watch them develop, then she would drop them and lay another batch within a day or two! It sounds exhausting. She eventually passed away after about a year and a half, very good life span for a "feeder" ghost shrimp. It was amazing, her last batch actually had two babies survive! I have no idea how it happened, since my filter surely ate up and killed her other thousand or so eggs (they have a microscopic larva stage). But it's like she knew her babies had made it and her job was done. I was in awe...
Within a week or so, her mate also died. I'd say it was true love.
