Some bettas are easier going than others, but it can't be guaranteed that any two bettas would ever live happily together. I would just return her if that's an option, will save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

bad news today... the female jumped out of the tank. found her on the floor all shiveled up and driy. sigh... and my male seemed to have taken some damage on himself also.. hasnt been lively as it used to be. few tears on the fin and bruised body.... what medicine should i use?? the brands available here are usually tetra or sera.

With good water conditions, you shouldn't need any medication for the male betta. They heal on their own fairly well in most cases. Do 2-3 water changes a week for 2-3 weeks and I bet he'll be as good as new :)
