Does anyone know how to tell if a clownfish is pregnant? She is getting a round belly and another clown acts as if he is protecting her from the other fish. What should I do if she is pregnant?
If her belly looks round and full, she may be carrying eggs. If spawning is imminent, the male will be cleaning off a spot on a rock, and trying to entice her there. She will deposit several dozen to a few hundred eggs on the rock, and they will hatch in about 8 days. Because the larvae are planktonic, they will probably just serve as a feast for the other animals in the tank.
which one is getting the bigger belly? usualy the female will be the protector, so if the unpregnant one is protecting, then you just might have a fat male.
The one that's acting as if it's protecting the other one is not the one getting fat. It's the other one. It's the black and white one that tries to keep the yellow and white one in the corner.
