Hi everyone,

Here I am again, NOT having good luck with fish as of late!!

Okay - so I was cleaning our guppy breeder tank the other day and as I was doing so, I saw at the bottom left of the tank one of our esteemed breeder guppies laying on her side. I thought immediately that she was dead, but getting her out and putting her in the breeder box I rapidly realized she was still alive.

So after about 10 hours of this, I realized she wasn't getting better and worried that there could potentially be a swim bladder issue. I moved her to a QT tank and that's where she's been for just on 24 hours. Still on her side, but STILL breathing.

She can sometimes TRY to move, but usually gets *nowhere* - I'm worried about her, and I want her to survive.

I have treated with Maracyn and Maracyn Two, I'm on Day 2 of treatment and there's been no improvement. I'm hoping that over a period of a few days this will improve, any thoughts?

Thanks,

Nick

If she is not able to swim at all, it could be a broken back. Someone here recently had this problem with a betta laying on it's side unable to swim, but otherwise looking okay. It's possible she was startled by something and darted into the glass.

oh lord - I hope not :(

If so - the answer is obvious. I'm just glad my wife is able to do that, I know for darn sure I wouldn't be able to.

Poor thing, sigh.

Just keep her isolated in the QT tank and see how the next few days go. Let us know if she gets any other symptoms. Best of luck!
