i just found out i got a pregnant cherry in my 10 gal tank. this is not the 1st time i found a pregnant female. its the 2nd. my first time was with a female tiger but it came out unsuccessful so this time i want to make sure the young ones survive.

theyve been living in the tank for about a month now with 4 neon tetras, 4 panda corys, an otto, 5 tiger shrimp, about 10 red cherry, and a red claw crab who lives in the filter thing.

should i quarantine the female and put her in a breeding box or what should i do ?

thanks.

Dont stress her out by chasing her around, they can and will abort the eggs. Make sure the filter intake is covered!!! The only thing in there that would eat the babies is the neons, which I'm not even sure about, and the red clawed crab (correct me if im wrong) who is ok as long as he is in the filter. It might pay to quarantine her so that after she delivers you can feed the babies non-stop.

depending on decore plants and coverage it go either way. you might a little colony going but may lose some on the way.

i have 2 balls of java moss some hornworts... and alot of floating plants. the filter intake is currently being covered by a pantyhose until i can find some sponge filter for the tank.

there's about 10 red cherry shrimps (couple adults and a couple juvies), 5 tiger shrimps (all adults), 4 panda corys (3 adults 1 juvy), an otto, 4 neon tetras, and a red claw crab.

here's a pic of the tank about a week ago. the filter intake is covered now and there are more floating plants like frogbits and duckweed and more java moss. should i get more plants in ?

oo and the crab live inside of the filtration system. he comes down to the tank once in awhile to mingle with the natives and then its back up inside he goes... hes been in the tank the longest.

i got him from petsmart awhile back and they had all their crabs in a freshwater tank. at first he lived under the fake log lookin thing but then he moved out and started living in the filtration system ever since. hes very happy in his home.
