I have had some amano shrimp for a year or two now and never had a pregant shrimp. Now I had moved my eldest to a 10 gal that is fos plants and a nursery for my Least livebearers and other young fishes. I bought 3 more to keep the algea under control (working).
Now the eldest is pregnat. How can I raise the babies when they are let go? What do they need to survive? I heard they need a marine enviroment to grow upon release. Help is needed.

Amano babies go through a larval stage that requires salt water and are thus very difficult to raise. I'm sure someone has done it, but I'm not aware of anyone on here that has (please speak up and tell us about it if you have!).

i saw some dark dark green-ish eggs under my amano's belly as well. is this after mating (like RCS) or before mating (like ghost shrimps)?

As far as I understand, all shrimp lay eggs and affix them to their pleopods only after mating (after the eggs have been fertilized). I went through a stretch of time without male ghosts in my tank and I saw no berries. When I put a new male in the female ghosts berried right up. Ghosts are another low-order shrimp that go through a larval stage after hatching. Unlike amanos, however, they don't seem to require saltwater. They do need a lot of tiny food to eat in the water column.
