Boiling it will make it sink or anyways it worked in my experience. If not I have heard it could take anywhere from 2-3 weeks
preparing driftwood for freshwater

I raided St Kilda Beach in Melbourne one day after huge storms and nabbed some fantastic driftwood. All I did was wash it thoroughly, then soak it in water for a week to two weeks. Wood is fine (in my 4ft tank) and levels seem ok. Boiling is probably better and perhaps more suited to those in a hurry
