So I've heard that microwaving vegetables is a convenient alternative to blanching on a stove, so how long does everyone microwave their food-matters for? Also, I've seen implements designed specifically to weigh down said vegetation; will any stainless steel cooking implement suffice for that function?

I nuke for 20-45 seconds depending on the size/type of veggie piece. I use coated chip clips to hold down veggie, but really anything will work.

I zap a coffee cup fill of sliced summer squash for 2 min, rinse til cool and then they sink in the tank, but I'm feeding ABN adults and fry.

I use cucumber but i dont microwave. I clip some to the side of the tank with a clip and then I also sink some spoon in it just to get it to stay on the bottom of the tank.

I don't bother microwaving stuff, and I just use a fork stuck in the veggies to make it sink.
