...a two-month (yes, a very short period indeed) compilation of pics of my favourite pede - a 6" adult "Yellow Leg" Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans.

When I first got her; 5th December 2008 (a poor photo):

You can see from the two poor shots that I do get bad photography days too! And btw, this beautiful animal badly needs a name. Ideas??

He is absolutely beautiful... lots of color

Yeah certainly. What do you think she (:D) should be called?

Btw, the site automatically compresses large photos, and in the second last pic it makes the pede look flat! I'm not complaining, just telling anyone viewing this thread to click on the pic to see it in the correct proportions. :)

oh I didnt realize she was female hehe my appologies.

as far as a name I dont really know.. something pertaining to her color perhaps..

Nice

:) I love that your *poor* photos are ones that most would be happy to take as their good ones! I think Jewel would be a lovely name. Her red makes me think of rubies and garnets, and her lustrous segments are almost faceted like gems.

She looks great, and nice pics. How long do they live? And what else do you feed her besides frogs (where are you getting those? are they alive?)?

I'm not exactly sure how they live but I would say 6 to 10 years. I don't actually use frogs anymore - they (and other vertebrate prey) are WAY too messy. I'll stick to mealworms from now on.

Thanks, and thanks for the suggestion! "Jewel" it is, lol. :D
