Which brings up a question I've always had, how does one know what the date is the inspection is up. When I bought a new tank there wasnt any stickers on it or anything other than what was imprinted in the tank. The local shop filled it on the spot no questions.

An inspected tank has an impression of the date in the tank. Scuba tanks are the same way. That way there's no doubt as to when it was inspected.

Nevermind, found the answer in another thread. For future people looking, the answer is yes, the only downside is that if you want to turn your CO2 off at night, you have to do it manually.

Yes I believe so. The problem is the inspections are not normally done where you buy and refill the bottle, they get sent out. My place said 2-3 weeks turn around time. If you pull co2 off a high light tank for that long it will be a mess by the time you get your bottle back. Sawpping is simpler :-0

When you go the swapping route, do you basically "pay" for the bottle up front in the form of a deposit, and then just swap out for the cost of a refil until you decide to get your deposit back(if you choose to)?

When I went to Airgas, they wanted $100.00 deposit, $9.00/mo service fee and $11.00 to fill each time. No thanks!

I ended up going to a fire extinguisher dealer and buying a bottle for $60.00 already full. It has to be inspected every time you fill it...Just a visual...It has to be tested in 5 yrs. They also fill it for only $8.00 too!

It really depends what is available near where one lives. Shop around for the best deal.

not bad.... i pay like 11 something to fill a 5 pound and like 15 for the 20 pound co2 tank.
