actually they are my friends fish.....i would have to stop out tomorrw to take a pic....the tank has 2 tetras...and 5 differnt goldfish...so the tank is definately not overstocked...its 20 gallons
Your friend is exceedingly overstocked. One goldfish won't do well in a 20 gallon, let alone 5 plus tetras. "But they're only feeder goldfish...." Feeder goldfish can get 12+ inches and should when they are kept humanely. If you need a more in-depth try a species profile here at AC. Print it out, take it to your friend.
As for keeping tetras with goldfish, in an environment too-warm goldfish will become more susceptible to diseases. Conversely, in a too-cold environment tetras will become more susceptible. The two fish aren't meant to be together.
Basically the tank should be treated for ich as soon as possible and then your friend should make a decision. Either take the goldfish back and keep a small tropical community. Or, take back all the fish except one goldfish. Then be prepared to get a larger tank in the very near future. Otherwise I'm afraid the tank just won't work in the long term and will be one big hassle.
