Hey all,
I have a shiney new eclipse 3 and and want to run my current 29 on its old stuff, aqua tech 30-60 and another tank with the new hood...the biggest that fits is a 37...my LFS said 95$ for glass only, but 80$ for a 75 and 95$ for a 90G...go figure. I know its not THAT odd of a size, what are you guys seeing out there for glass only? I want to put this hood to full use-ill have an article up soon on my DIY moonlight cold cathode i integrated into the eclipse-quite the task, but its beautiful and it beautifully voided all the warranties im sure. :o . Location and what kind of store you saw the 37's at would be appriciated. Ill go to petsmart back home if this lfs guy doesnt want to play ball with a long time customer. Thanks as always.

Ok someone surely has to have seen a 37 glass around somewhere?

I bought the hood afterwards by itself, i just need the glass now. I think my LFS is trying to pull one over on me, which they should be wise not to do as I am a fairly consistant and loyal customer. If petsmart has a better deal then i wont feel bad going that route at this point. Anyone have a store and price on a 37 Gallon glass only out there?

Do you really need a 37 gallon tank? The only thing it will add is height. A 29 gallon or 20 gal long will fit and could be a lot cheaper.

A 37 is very tall. A 29 would be cheaper and hold just about as many fish. Even though you're gaining volume with the 37, you're not gaining any surface area. It's the same as the 29. Plus, unless you like wet armpits, the 29 is easier to deal with maintenance-wise. The 37 is almost two feet deep. Just a thought.

I've actually seen larger tanks that use "DUAL ECLIPSE HOODS" and the setup looks awesome!

Perhaps look at a 2nd Eclipse hood and het measurements to find tank you want!

Well it was really for a small peacock african tank-i posted this same thing at malawimayhem after reading their sites sticky on "recipies" on their 30 Gallon setups. They said 10-15 africans in a 30, i was thinking somwhere along 8 tops maybe 6. I know ideally a 55 or bigger is appropriate, but i had them once and had to give them back as they outgrew the 10 gallon petsmart said they would be fine in...sigh. Long ago before I found this place for sure. I have the 29 now but i dont want to get rid of all those fish and i have a hood for the setup, it seems the 37 is just that much more volume for the 30 gallon recipies on the other site. Thats the only reason i want that vs another 29, will the extra depth not help that much other than dillution? (Im very good about my water changes and regular maintence- the 29 hasnt had a loss in almost a year). Input on the 29 vs a 37 for the application I want to use it in?
Thanks again
