I went to my LFS today intending on buying a few dojo loaches for my goldfish tank. I was stunned to see they were $8.00 each! I remember back when they were $1.99 (don't ask when that was)... I don't mind spending more on certain fish but c'mon... Don't you think 8 bucks is kind of steep? Do they cost this much everywhere?

it honestly depends on their availability on lists, as they are one that is not commonly tank raised, they can get pricey.

IMO for a fish like a dojo its definitely worth it. I see mine as morre of a wet-pet than a fish. Besides, most chiclids run you the same price, and schooling fish will cost you upwards of $30 for a decent school.

Go to an Asian fish market if one's in your area. They sell them live by the pound and it doesn't take many to make a pound!

My husband is saying to get the dojo's for my birthday instead of going to a Ratt, LA Guns and Skid Row concert. BAH!!!!!!!!
I know I'll go ahead and buy them AND go to the concert!

They're illegal here but I've seen $10 golds & $6 or 8 browns nearby. Look at them carefully, like Subrosa said they're food fish & may not be kept as healthy as you'd like.

May not? I can guarantee you won't like anything about what you see except the price!
