Prime conditioner

i use 1 drop per gallon usually, if i'm doing a water change to remove ammonia (rare), i'll dose with 1 drop per gallon before the change and then the water i'm putting in as well.

it's safe for overdosing (to a point) so don't worry if you go over a little.
 
Directly from the Seachem website:

"May be added to aquarium directly, but better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume."
 
I purchased some Prime as a result of all the hype it gets here ... I was using AquaSafe - pretty amazed that a capful of Prime treats 50g - heck the aquasafe wanted a capful to treat just 20g and it was a larger cap.

Hopefully the Prime is "all-that" ... I plan to dose the aquarium for all water changes as I was doing with the a.s..
 
Ive used API and KENT,our fish seem to act lethargic with those, but with PRIME i see no change in behavior even after large wc's, So thats what Ive been useing........:)

I agree, we still use alot of it tho..2-3 wc's a week on 3 tanks figures out to be about 8 cap fulls a week, the 250ml bottles don't last long......:)
 
I see this a lot and I never would recomend dosing it based on cap sizes. There are different cap sizes depending on what bottle you get and some folks might just take what you say without thinking. Best bet is just to pick up a graduated syringe and dose based on 1ml per 10g water. And of course if you treat your water before putting it in tank then dose of that smaller value, and give it a few minutes. With the syringe its a piece of cake to get accurate amounts for dosing very small tanks easily. The one I use was actually free with some infant antibiotics but they should be available at any drug store/pharmacy or online (and in a couple of different sizes too).

If you use it a lot I'd be looking at the larger sizes like the 2L. Its much cheaper per volume than the 250mL.

I've read up on both Prime (by Seachem) and NovAqua+ (by Kordon). I decided to go with the NovAqua+ because of some extra benefits based on slime coats and vitamins. Also because I have AmQuel+ already and I don't just want to throw that bottle away. Once I'm done with both of those bottles (16 Oz.), then I might go with Prime. Either one is a good choice, though.
