I recently started using Prime as a water conditioner when I put new water into my 55 gallon after partial water changes and since I started using it (about 3 weeks ago) I have lost 2 of my Ottocinclus. I was so proud that they were thriving as I know they can be sensitive. Has anyone heard of Prime having some ingredient that would affect the Ottos? Thanks.

prime should not be your problem...a lot of us use prime hereand a lot of us have ottos.

your water parameters might have changed since starting to use prime....ottos are sensitive so maybe the treated water was a bit of a shock to them.

also, before they passed were there bellies nice and fat? an otto with a sunken tummy is an otto that will not be with us for much longer. they should have nice lil fat tummys...you should make sure ot supplement their diet with algae wafers and veggies.

Maybe just a coincidence. Yes, I supplement with Algae Wafers as I also have a Bristlenose. He is getting bigger so maybe I need to increase the Algae Wafers to make sure the Ottos are getting their share. Thanks for your input everyone. I will continue to use the Prime.
