For those that do not know what safe is. From what i am reading about safe on Seachem's website it is a powered version of prime. It has the same benefits but is more concentrated.

My question is that for those that have used both, can you elaborate on stated shelf life and any inconveniences such as the sulfur smell when comparing to the two products? I am considering ordering a bottle for my 55 gallon tank and i don't want to get too big of a bottle.

I'd suggest the 500ml bottle. Online it runs about $12.00 and it will treat 5000 gallons. While the gallon bottle is cheaper, it isn't if it spills or you can't store it where it is immediately at hand.
The sulfur smell is just a smell particular to Prime.

Seachem Safe is the dry form of Prime. Very concentrated. The small bottle will last the vast majority of tank owners, the life of the tank or the owner.
With one caveat. Storage.

Don't let your measuring "spoon" get wet and put it back into the bottle. Don't store Safe where it might get popped open accidentally. Follow the directions.
