Problem? Altum Angel Fish

Hi All,

thank for advice, I have c arried out a series of water changes and reduced Nitrate to 5. I have been hand feeding the Altum in question frozen blood worm and he/she seems to be getting a little fatter.
The Angels are juveniles and about 2 inches long no more than 3 inches high. They will only be in this tank for a maximum of another 4 months when they should be moving to a min of 100 gallon high tank (going to try for a biotype set up!)

Thanks for all advice
Chaz

You really should move them faster than 4 months. Angels do grow somewhat quickly and you are going to greatly stunt their growth by keeping 5 of them in a 30 gallon tank.

and to my understanding, Altums, when in good shape, grow faster and larger than scalare.

Altums do grow larger than scalares - from what I understand they are a real jewel of a fish. I had mentioned in another thread about keeping 2 angels in a 20gal, but with altums they really need more space. In order for altums to breed I understand you really need a LOT of space.

Hi All,

Well I have to say I hav e had ngood news and got a new job. Rio 400 will be here within nextg few weeks and altums should then have enough room to develop

thanks for advie all inhabitants are looking helthy

Hi All,

got back last night and the poor little fella was stuck to the side of my filter (internal Juwel canister) - completely lifeless so held him/her gently in the flow for 10 mins but nothing. Off he/she went to the big fish tank in the sky.
I'm totally gutted about him/her as thought they were on the way to recovery - evidently not.
On a happy note all the other angels are making complete pigs out of themselves at feeding time!

I just wanted to post an update and say a big thanks for all the advice I got on this thread It worked at first but I obviously didn't spot the problem before it was too late.

cheers
a very sad Chaz!
