I have a 20 gal. Sea Clear acrylic tank with a 20 watt 24" fluorescent light fixture. It's been running a GE Plant and Aquarium bulb for years now without any problems. I just bought a CORALIFE 50/50 bulb and it won't work properly. The light will just blink continously. Do these 50/50 bulbs require anything special? More power? Can I modify my fixture in any way?

is it blinking on and off, or will the bulb not light up all the way, and just kinda flicker?

The starter in your light is probably bad.

You can pick them up at the home depot for like $0.20

Yes, it flickers and never totally turns on. I thought it could be the starter also, but I ruled it out because the bulb before it worked, and it still worked after I put it back in. Perhaps the starter is good enough for my Plant & Aquarium bulb, but not good enough to fire up the Coralife 50/50. I suppose spending a few pennies on a new starter wouldn't hurt...
