Problem with snails...attached!

The problem I have always had is that my snails literally mate to death. The only Briggs I have left are males. My females lay clutch after clutch and then drop dead. They have their own tank, get the best food etc. BTW my males get that crack along the front too. If I ever get any more females I am seperating them from the males.

hmm i never knew this about snails. i learn a little everyday, now i will know what is happening if i get a cracked shell on a male

The V shape just means your boy is a man now lol. Its a common thing on breeding males. Mine have it too, its purely cosmetic, im sure they will detatch when they are ready. She would probably close up if he was bugging her too much.

That's good to know. I noticed what I thought was some serious shell damage on my smallest brig yesterday. Based on the position though, it sounds like I have nothing to worry about.
