Problem with uneven aquarium stand

I just built an aquarium cabinet for a 90gal and one end of the aquarium sits a little off the top of it. I can slide a few sheets of paper in the gap to give you an idea of the size.

I haven't put water in it yet and want to know how big of a problem this is. Will it crack with that kind of gap and if so where can I buy something to go between the aquarium and the stand. Would a slice of cardboard across the bottom resolve it?

Fixing the stand isn't an option at this point. Thanks.

You can use styrofoam. Elmers makes a foam presentation type board (usually sold with poster board at walmart) that works well too.

two sheets of paper is all? No problem. Don't use something that will lose shape if it gets wet (like cardboard!). tre has good suggestions. You can also try the hardware store for some felt weather-stripping. You can get it in different widths and thicknesses. I used it for my diy stand and 90gal tank some years ago and it's still standing.

Ahh! I wish I had asked you before, great idea. My stand was perfectly level, put the tank on and I guess the tank trim wasn't. There was 6 inches on the front where I also had a gap, a business card thickness. I already had linoleum on the top of the stand and then in that spot, I put a couple layers of black electrical tape (but at least the tape came in handy for another of your suggestions for the side white molding). With the tank full only a few days, it has already compressed down.

Well, never underestimate the uses for electrical tape! ;)
