Hello,
I've just began trying my hand at spawning a pair of bettas I have. I relased the female after the male built his nest and she seemed very receptive. Still, the male has been chasing her a lot. I was told to expect this and to give it some time, but I am just wondering how long I should wait. It has been about 4 hours now... she is not tattered or beat up at all.
Thanks,
~Skap

There really is no set time. Just keep your eye on them at all times and if you are going to be gone for more than an hour or so separate them. If either the famale or male gets too beat up I wouls separate them. Whatever you do just be careful I tried to breed bettas once, I had to go run a few errands and forgot to separate them. When I got home the female had killed the male. I haven't tried breeding since.

thanks for the reply!

when the male chases the female, is that a good sign? i've read that some males ignore mates thy aren't interested in and my male definitely doesn't ignore the female.

thanks,

my spawn is a week old now, it took 4 days for mine to get the job done. try it when a front is coming through your area it works wonders
