Well I began hard-core brainstorming for my new project. essentially what Im trying to accomplish is 2 display tanks housed in a rock formation with 2 waterfalls. Ill be using 2x4s for structure, 2 50 gal breeders, a sump I have yet to determine size, and styrofoam faux rock exterior for aesthetics. Take a look at my idea Ill include a profile picture Let me know if you think its doable and please give me input if you think I might be forgetting something. This is a pretty big project for me but I think it will turn out ok.

Got started on the stand today. I'm definitely no carpenter. It doesnt need to be pretty just structurally sound because the entire thing will be covered. Today I got the bottom and the base for the bottom tank done. I will probably do the top tank portion tomorrow.

***STAND BUILT***
Today I got the stand completed with quite a bit of lumber left over. It took almost a 1lb box of exterior fine threaded screws. I used wood glue between most of the joints, measured a bunch and only had to cut once. ;)

p.s. I also added 2 more vertical supports on the back for the top tank. I just took my pictures before that step. I will paint the stand tomorrow or the day after.

For good measure and to check my clearances I threw my tanks on for a final dry fit and to check my notch for the bulkhead that will drain into the sump. Maybe this will show a better idea of what I had in mind with the 2 tanks overlapping and both sharing the same sump system

***AH Progress***

Update. Stand is built and rock solid. I put the extra bracing on the legs and painted with 2 cans of spray paint. That was obviously not enough. More paint to come. Then the sump, then the rocks then the fishies. hoorah!!!

Well after over a month of stagnation (laziness) I can now say I'm starting to make some progress again. I completed my sump. The chambers are done and holding water as planned. The pvc is in place and acting as it should. I could possibly clean up some caulk lines for aesthetics, but that can wait until the water test is complete. I also sprayed a few more coats of black spray paint on my stand to finish it. One sec and I'll upload a video. Right now I'm contemplating the plumbing in regards to hardlined pvc VS. see through hose. Both have advantages/disadvantages so I am thinking of splitting both to have the best of both worlds.

Made a couple of planter boxes if you will and finished all my hardlined plumbing and mounted it. Still no concrete. It's probably a good thing No one is paying me to get this done on time :(

Things left to do
1. Mount and test LEDs
2. Get smaller pump
3. Install magnets for doors and sides
4. Complete waterfall rocks and top
5. Concrete

And disaster strikes!!! I must have torqued the tank wrong taking it out to clean it. I was moving everything inside since starting the cement process. I need some opinions and advice now. I have a good buddy with the same tank except his isn't drilled. his is missing one glass pane. So I can eight cut my drilled good piece out and silicone it to his. Or I can get a solid pane from him and try to silicone it to mine. I'm not sure whats best at this point. I also don't know if I can fuse old silicone to new. Like replacing one pane of glass and making it bond to the rest of the already cured silicone already on the tank. Any ideas

I was just told that new silicone will not bond with already cured silicone if that helps the decision.

Hey I notice your user name. Have you ever frequented gamefaqs.com?

yeah it looks like I'll be resealing the entire tank. No I have never been to that site

Right on. I have to do a reseal on a 55 myself. I didn't think you were the guy I was thinking of. Same name but you seem more mature. Good luck with the reseal, sucks that that happened =/
