I bought a clump of hornwort and it is growing like crazy.

Now what is the best way to propagate this plant? I have heard if you cut off a branch it will continue to grow on it's own?

Pretty much. As long as you've got it growing already, a seperated strand should continue to grow on it's own.

Careful, 'fore too long you'll have a tank of hornwort!

How about anacharis? Can I just break at the point that I want and replant the top part that I took off from the original stem?

I think both plants you could almost throw in a food prossecer and put the choped up bits in water, supply light and in a very short time have hundreds of plants

Remember I said almost I might just try it this summer

Ok, I'll take that as a yes. I need to trim my anacharis. some of them reach halfway across the top!
