whats the easiest brain coral to keep

What type of brain coral are you looking to frag? Some like a trachaphyllia can definitely be done, but the problem is they arent a quick grower so you will have a funny shaped coral for a loooong time. However, favias, favites, platygyras, etc, all frag really easily and will quickly grow over the sides of the walls or even on the disk you attach them too. If you are looking to propagate for a little money to keep the hobby going, that would be the way to do it if you want to have a brain.
And just about all species are easy to keep.

I had what I thought was a single brown mushroom.. Upon getting it a bit closer to the light, then upgrading to MH's, it turns out they change color based on light exposure. The single has multiplied into about a dozen over the last year, and they are green and brown, depending on how much light they get. Don't overdo it, though. I had them high up in the tank when the MH lights came in, and they shrunk up from too much light. I moved them down, then worked them back up to mid tank. They are happiest there, and are rather large.

As for propagating brains, I was curious too.. I have one that is brown with bright green centers. I would be scared to start cutting it anywhere!

A fragged one of my huge leathers two days ago. In less than 24 hours, you wouldn't be able to tell that the frag or the original specimen had been razorbladed.
