proper location of intake /output hoses

Not uncommon at all...look at any HOB with the outlet plenum(s) pouring water down, straight at the suction tube...and most canisters have a holder that accepts the inlet and outlet tubes. It is the discharge nozzles or spray bars that direct the flow across the tank and away from the suction that creates the current.

:iagree: I have an eheim ecco in one of my tanks with them next to each other and I like the set up as it creates a nice flow within the tank for the fish.

Good morning all,
Thanks to all that helped me with my question. The canister filter I purchased is the Marineland C-360. Presently I set it up with intake on the back left side with the intake basket about 3" above the gravel and the output diffuser on the back right side about 5"+/-(this dimension is fixed by the manufacture). The flow is across the back right to left. I took a water sample last night and the water was crystal clear. I do have anothet question though. When the light is off the tank appears clear- another words I can see clearly to the back glass with the store bought background of plants and stones. When I turn the light on it no longer is clear but slightly foggy until you look directly at the bottom gravel. Does the type light affect clearity? I am using the standard light that comes with the Marineland hood. This driving me crazy.
Thx,
Scott
