Proposed 29 gallon stocking

I currently have 4 danios in cycling the tank with Bio Spira and will soon be ready to begin slowly stocking my tank. What do you think of the following?

6 neon tetras
6 glowlight tetras
5 rummy nose tetras

I was also thinking about sticking with neons and rummy noses only. Is there a type of algae eating fish I could use? I heard plecos eat neons sometimes. Also, will a betta get along with these fish? I'm just narrowing down some options. Please feel free to make suggestions!

Ebo Jager 150 watt heater (77 degrees)

That looks good so far. If you don't want to get glowlight tetras maybe bump the number of neons and rummynose up to like 7 or 8 each. Ottos would be perfect algae eaters for that tank and will stay under 2 inches for sure.

Also consider some kind of bottom feeders. I will be getting kuhli loaches for my 20 gallon, they are definitely an option for you. Many people seem to really like cories but I've never had them.

Edit: A betta would probably be fine in that tank as well.

I'd keep the glowlights -they're so pretty when they are healthy Plus they would add some cool contrast to the blue of the neons.

But yes, some bottom feeders would be a good addition. I would suggest either at least three cories (they need to be in groups - but you could always look for pigmy cories) or a yoyo loach or two.

A betta would make a good focal point for the tank...something that would be a good choice considering neons, rummies, and glows all stay fairly small. Even a gourami of some sort, even a dwarf gourami, would be a good centerpiece.

Or, if you want to replace the glowlights with something a little different, threadfin or celebes rainbowfish stay relatively small and are very attractive little buggers!

Either way, the fish you proposed should be just fine

edit: I just realized that you are probably keeping the danios in the tank? If so, they can sometimes be a bit nippy, in which case a betta or gourami may not be such a great idea...

Actually, I'm not going to be keeping the danios in there. I'm going to take them back once the tank is completely cycled and probably pick up the neons and go from there.

Yah, I would have done a fishless cycle if I were you. Not only because no fish have to be hurt, but then you wouldn't be returning fish that just went through a bit of an ordeal.

If you already have biospira then why are you bothering with a fishy cycle? You just add the proper amount of biospira and add a full fish load within 24 hours. That is what it is meant for.

A problem with the fish you chose is that since they are all tetras of a similar size they will probably end up forming one big messy school instead of distinct groups. If that is cool with you then by all means grab those fish!!

On another note I blame fish stores for renting out danios. The poor little guys just want a home.

If you get loaches, get at least 3 or 4 of them, since they really like to be in small groups. I think they are great fish.

I agrre with Leopardess that threadfin rainbowfish would make a great display. I hope to get some myself sometime.
