Sorry, I don't know where to post this. I want to know how to clean up all those protein grime and build up on the containers or boxes of overhead filters. I normally clean up the filters themselves using the tank's water. I try to do the same to the filter boxes and containers but still have a hard time cleaning them. I am afraid that this dirt has built up over time. I want the tank to look really clean and that includes the filter containers. Is there a way to really get rid of them?

Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Regards,
Mike D.

Try scrubbing them down with salt. Some ppl suggest using vinegar also, and I have heard of ppl using oxiclean. These would all be for use onthe outside of the pump, aquarium. I wouldn't reccomend cleaning the inside of your filter that good, proably remove too many beneficial bacteria. Hope this helps!
