Protein Skimmer Advice

So the one thing I don't seem to have yet is a protein skimmer and I want one. I don't want to spend a fortune, because in the past week I've spent way too much (800gls of salt costs a lot, but it was buy 3 get one free!).
Any advice on a decent hang on the tank protein skimmer? I don't have a sump so this is what it has to be. I want something that is decent and will last some time. I've read some reviews on Coralifes overflowing, and how CPR's Bak-Pak is noisy, so I'm curious if these are true and what to go with.

Hopefully someone will help out. It's a 56gl tank.
 
the bac-pacs aren't noisy...mine is whisper quite...as so were all the ones i sold and put on set ups dont know where that always comes from but in over 20 ones ive set up they never make much noise.
the corallifes are also great and only overflow if not adjusted right...that makes them a bit hard though.
 
Would you recommend a specific bakpak then? I liked them more then coralife, but don't know what to go with.
 
We're not against a sump, but under the tank the cabinet only has space for a 14x14 sized sump, which I don't think is enough room. If we had known when we bought the tank we would've looked for a larger cabinet.
