protein skimmer...help!!

The lfs is in town, I live in the country and have well water that I think is tapped into some wasteland on the other side of the world. The lfs said (so did the ro/di guys I had come out and test the water) that our area has some really bad ground water for some reason. They were testing 1700 tds. My friend who live 10 miles away has 200 tds straight from the well, go figure.

I use the Coralife Super Skimmer. It has worked good for me and the price was reasonable. I have not used any other skimmers though so I can't speak for the others.

I am waiting for my reef octopus nw-110-6520 recirculating skimmer to arrive my lfs said they are great and can do up to a 500l tank and i only paid $140.00 AUST on line has any one used one.
