protein skimmer spilling tiny bubbles

I am having the same problem with my coralife skimmer. its shooting bubbles everywhere in my tank and the outflow tube is overflowing out of the bubble diffuser box. pain in my ***.
 
so there is no quick fix? That page is very long and is talking about water spilling out of the output and all this stuff I don't think I have. It does overflow out of the sponge box thing, and there are tiny bubble spilling over.

Yeah! I'd love to know how to fix that or if the "break in" period will help with that. it's making my tank look like a hot tub.

axnixon suggested to me that I clean out the unit with warm soapy water and then to clean it very well with cold water. I'm going to do that in a few hours when I get home from work and I'll let you know how it works out!!!!
 
Right now the protein skimmer is off because I think the tiny bubbles in my tank might hurt my corals maybe?
 
starfish dont like bubbles either, it says they should never be in contact with air

they can be if they do it them self..but just pulling them out doesn't allow them to close up...the bubbles should affect sea stars unless they take over the entire tank and are over whelming.

From everything I've read, if you've been running this skimmer for a while, you just need to pull it apart and clean it. If it's a venturi, they get clogged after a while, if it's a needlewheel, they can get gummed up a bit as well.

I'd try cleaning it first and foremost.

Unless it's a brand new skimmer, then they generally have a 'break in time'.

I cleaned my skimmer today and put it back in. The exact same thing is happening. Bubbles everywhere and overflow of the bubble diffuser box. mine has ONLY been running for 24 hours, so i'm going to let this baby run for a day or two and then let it go full stream. I'll let you know how it turns out. this is the first thing that has made me impatient. lol.
