Protein skimmer

Thank you for all your advice last week, I added more live rock and the tank finished cycling within 4 days. My new question is....
I have a 45 gallon tall aquarium. There is not much room in the back for filters and things. Currently I have a bio wheel filter for a 40 gallon tank and a "Cascade" (think : Walmart, haha) filter for a 60 gallon tank on the back. I also have the heater and a powerhead. I need room to put the skimmer. There is no more room. I have about 25 lbs of live rock in there. (I know more is better, working on that). Can I safely take away one of the filters?

i guess leave the better and stronger of the two filters and then get a very nice HOB skimmer i recommend the backpac skimmer for CPR aquatics they are excellent and well worth the investment.

I just purchased a typhoon hot skimmer today, on sale from the good Dr's, for like $70.

Of course, I can't tell you if it's good or not, I just ordered it today.

Would you be willing to keep the lid off and possibly keep one of the filters or skimmer on the side?
