Pseudo Fish?

What are pseudo fish? I was at my lfs today and noticed several fish with Pseudo in front of their names. Is this because they are not the REAL fish?

Probably just part of the scientific name...Pseudomugil, Pseudotropheus, Pseudochromis...all names of genera that probably have a Latin reason why "pseudo" is in the name to describe the group of fish, but you'd have to do more digging if you're interested.

It's usually used in naming fish that are similar to but not in the same family as whatever follows the [FONT=Tahoma, Lucida Sans Unicode, verdana, geneva, sans-serif]'pseudo'. If you search on the family name on FishBase, it provides the Etymology for the name. (example with Pseudomuglidae, family name for furcata rainbows) [/FONT]

What the heck was that?! I saw a mullet and i instantly exited out of youtube. You cant make a remix to funky town. You just cant. Its a good enough song without a remix.
